Review of: PALAYE ROYALE - Fever Dream (Official Music Video)
This video starts out as what almost seems like a nightmare!
It almost feels like I'm entering into a musical number. Not all music videos make you feel like this. Is this an ode to the Barnum and Bailey era or Ringling Brothers? Palaye Royale isn't one to shrink away from letting their viewers/listeners from knowing that they have felt like society feels they are freaks and outcasts. That is what the circus scene was for. It was the promise land for those who were the misfits and social outcasts.
No one listens to the social outcasts no matter how much we cry out. All the while the singer appears unsure of his new surroundings.
The singer is watching fireworks and singing to a contortionist that appears to be in pain. The amount of stress they put on their body for the shows could cause permanent damage and lead to severe arthritis and other deformities and health issues. The pain and suffering they go through for our amusement is saddening.
My least favorite part of the video is the actual performance of the band. I wonder if it is showing how the actors/actresses of the show itself lives are more important.
The fireworks going off, changes the pace of the song so quickly. The song gets dark. So much pain and anguish is in the singer's voice. Saying goodbye to a loved one is hard. I've lost too many good ones. Illness, un-aliving, age, OD. Death comes in many forms, and it feels the same to the ones left behind.
The singer watching the fireworks and the Hot Air balloon is like letting go of one's soul or watching a loved one's life let go. It is very painful to watch.
They make it seem like their world is spinning out of control. I know how that feels.
The singer is begging for one more chance. We don't get it with that person, but we can build it up again for ourselves. A little magic of ourselves goes a long way.
We can be anything we want to be. We just have to believe in our own neverlands.
The singer reached reached for their dreams. Just dream and imagine. Everything will be ok.
