The Flood Tragedy in South Eastern Kentucky

Image
As I look at posts from my friends and family I grew up around surfacing on social media, I am horrified by the destruction Mother Nature has formed. I know everyone is acting like this force of nature never happens down there, but my papaw told me about how his dad lost his entire family to a flood before my papaw was born. He said it happened in the 1930s and so many lives were lost.  The last time I visited South Eastern Kentucky, majority of the places I knew were gone or abandoned. Time destroys everything. I feel that when I visit there again, I'm not going to recognize the area at all.  I'm still in shock with how bad the area looked prior. I can only imagine how it will look once they start to rebuild. I hope their governor actually gets the help they need.  I'm looking at pictures of roads I've walked and road on. Buildings I've been in, and it is hard to grasp my head around it. These places that when I was a child that looked like fortresses or prisons a...

RIP CHOCO TACO

Image
As everyone knows the Choco Taco by Klondike is discontinued. My hubby was fortunate enough to to find some for us at a Sunoco gas station on his way to work the night before last. He grabbed them on his way home yesterday morning and surprised me after dinner. I don't know why Klondike is discontinuing these delicious desserts but I can tell you they are a great treat. They are quite messy close to the end. My hubby suggests that they should go back to being a seasonal item at Taco Bell as a collaboration with Klondike. I like them more as a Ice Cream truck or gas station food novelty item myself. I don't picture it as a fast food item. Farewell delicious taco that the world loves but your own company does not support. You will be missed by the masses. Your company has betrayed you and it's own client base.

August 2022 Dinner Menu Plan

Here I am on time for my menu plan for next month. Typically I scramble last minute to put it together. This month I hopefully be able to follow it since I prepared in time. If I don't get it prepared in time, I tend to not follow it all the way through and just pick and choose. Some of these are return favorites of mine, and some of these are new. I got to say the Oven Drumsticks instructions is one of my all time favorites. 🍗 August 1: Pork Chops and Green Beans August 2: Pizza August 3: Italian Baked Hoagies August 4:  Sheet Pan Sausage & Peppers August 5:  Bacon Pineapple BBQ Chicken August 6: Mac N Cheese  August 7: Taco Pizza August 8: Meat Loaf August 9: Sloppy Cheesesteaks August 10: Grilled Chicken August 11: Oven Drumsticks August 12: Brats and Baked Potatoes  August 13: Smoked Sausage and Potato Hash August 14: Cheeseburgers August 15: Burritos or Spaghetti August 16: Coney Dogs August 17: Slow Cooker Short Ribs August 18: Chicken Quesadillas Au...

Review of: PALAYE ROYALE - Fever Dream (Official Music Video)

Image
This video starts out as what almost seems like a nightmare! It almost feels like I'm entering into a musical number. Not all music videos make you feel like this. Is this an ode to the Barnum and Bailey era or Ringling Brothers? Palaye Royale isn't one to shrink away from letting their viewers/listeners from knowing that they have felt like society feels they are freaks and outcasts. That is what the circus scene was for. It was the promise land for those who were the misfits and social outcasts.  No one listens to the social outcasts no matter how much we cry out. All the while the singer appears unsure of his new surroundings.  The singer is watching fireworks and singing to a contortionist that appears to be in pain. The amount of stress they put on their body for the shows could cause permanent damage and lead to severe arthritis and other deformities and health issues. The pain and suffering they go through for our amusement is saddening.  My least favorite part of ...

Amazon Prime Day was a Bust

Image
So normally I am able to get a lot more shopping done on Amazon Prime Day, but this year, I wasn't so lucky. I walked away with only two buys.  My best tip for anyone is to start Christmas shopping in the summer. The best time to do it is during Amazon Prime day usually for me. Unfortunately with work and having a busy life schedule this was my haul for two days. Not to mention, I had to consider how much in debt I am in. I was also trying to find a decent pair of earbuds for the hubby to use with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) for his work. He doesn't like how loud it gets when the machines run and even with earplugs in it bothers him. Unfortunately the ones I want to get him are a little out of my price range for now even with Prime Day. Hopefully, they will go on sale again when I get a little more cash on hand.

Review of: THE DARK PICTURES ANTHOLOGY: THE DEVIL IN ME Trailer (2022) PS5/PS4

Image
Is it just me or are the graphics downgraded? I love this series, but after the last segment, I was left with an awkward taste in my mouth. I hope they leave me with some redemption. Does the curator seem to be getting younger with each game to you? Is he the actual curse? Could he be a villain in the guise of a narrator? I just hope they don't ruin him, he is the best part of the games. If it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't have picked up the last game.

Plant Life

Image
Busy morning for me, my Aloe plants Thelma and Louise replanted and then with my old pot I replanted my hens and chicks. I decided since my Christmas Cactus wasn't doing so well to check on her and just replant her. She is a candy cane variety and I don't think she is like a normal plant...oh and my devil's ivy is surviving better outside on its own than it was with me trying to grow it...plants are moody...

Review of: 10 Things You SHOULD Be Buying at Dollar Tree in July 2022 (More like Five Below)

Image
1 Travel Size!!!!! Is a dollar twenty-five worth it? You can still get similar items for cheaper at say Walmart or Target. I hate that dollar tree is no longer a single dollar. I understand taxes, but adding that 25 cents really ruined the name. If I was at Dollar Tree shopping and I knew I needed travel size items soon, I would probably grab it, but not if I was trying to save a buck or two. 1.1 Fridge Storage bin? I don't know but, if you are getting a bunch of those travel items, it would be a great place to put them.  1.2 Bathroom Caddy? I love me a bathroom caddy. I have bought my fair share of bathroom caddies for makeup and so much more. 2 Dollar Tree Premium... Five Dollar Items at Dollar Tree!!!! What!! They might as well change their name to Five Below... Tumblers, Cutting Boards and more. I'm so disappointed in what Dollar Tree has become. 3 Picnic Wears Good Deal, I paid about ten bucks on ice cube trays similar to these and the ice cubes like these are fun to use f...

Work Unfairness

So work is feeling unfair for my shift. I'm still demoted while incompetent people are still advancing. I'm contemplating just quitting, but I need the money right now. So job searching it is.  So, I was a supervisor on the weekends about three years ago and guy broke the rules and walked off the job and was fired for it. I was blamed for it, even thought the boss at the time is the one that made the decision. I was demoted and my supervisor role was taken away from me.  He was then rehired in the future and is now my current supervisor. He lies and steals from the company. He has wiped private information from contractor flash drives. He has lied to my coworkers and our bosses and he still is employed.  So, I came back from vacation, and two people were promoted. One, is a guy with severe anxiety that stays on the toilet for 75% of his shift. The other is an incompetent woman who literally left her children outside at work in a vehicle when the weather was so hot t...

Return to Work

After a week of vacation, I was happy to get back to work. I don't know how happy I am though. The Visitor Center lobby smells like feet and I discovered that we have a mice infestation going on. I can't believe how accustomed I was with the odor of my coworkers. I was only gone a week from here, but they don't smell too pleasant.  I knew there would be some changes to occur while I was gone, but I didn't know how much. It wasn't a lot it looks like. It feels like they are setting the entire staff up for failure, so be it. Just means I have to take care of my team and make sure it doesn't fail. Other than that, nothing feels different. I just picked up everything like I never left. I'm exhausted. Waking up at 3:30 in the morning sucks. 😴 Caught up on work emails. Picked up overtime. Just a little tired. I'll definitely get back in routine with sleep after today hopefully. Hopefully, I'll get re-accustomed to the smell as well.
